Introducing Patachitra painting in fabric jewelry. PataChitra is a unique type of painting done by Patuas from West Bengal. We would like to give a brief description of this form of art.

The word Pata comes from the Sanskrit word Patta that means “a piece of cloth” and Chitra refers to painting. Patachitra is a unique folk tradition of visual storytelling accompanied by songs performed by the Patuas. Stories are painted on long scrolls by the painters known as Chitrakars (family surname) who gradually unfurl them while narrating. Patachitra is known for its bold colours, lines and strokes which carries an essence of rural art form.

Though the whole story can’t be managed in a small piece of cloth, here we have tried to carry on their unique form of art into jewelry. All paintings are done by renowned “Patua” with his full liberty and we, the Warddrobe team have formed their work into jewelry.As we always tried to make unique designs of jewelry which all of you have given an inspiring response to go ahead, this time also you will like the designs.
